The 4th International Manga Award
The 4th International MANGA Award Executive Committee will will accept entries for the Fourth Award April 5 - 31 May 2010.
The International MANGA Award was established to share Japanese pop culture and to help promote understanding of Japan. If was created to honor MANGA artists who have contributed to the promotion of MANGA overseas.
The Golden Prize of the 4th International MANGA Award will be given to the best MANGA from all the entries and about three distinguished works will receive the Silver Prize. In addition, the Japan Foundation will invite the prize winners to Japan to attend the award ceremony. They will also meet with Japanese MANGA artists and visit publishing companies, etc., in Japan.

The 7th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition
8th - 23rd November 2009
The Hamamatsu International Piano Competition started in 1991 in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Hamamatsu City, and it has been held every three years since. The purpose of this Competition is to encourage the development of music and culture, to promote interantional cultural exchanges and to contribute to the nurturing of musicians by providing promising young pianists from all over the world with an opportunity to display the fruits of their daily study.
Eligibility
This Competition is open to pianists born on or after January 1, 1981.
Application Period
Application forms must arrive at the Secretariat's office between February 1 (Sunday) - March 31 (Tuesday), 2009.

The Shizuoka International Translation Competition 2007-2008
Entries from persons of all nationalities and ages welcome. However, people who have had their translations of literary or related materials published are not eligible.
Also, joint translations (works translated by more than one person) are not eligible for this competition
Entrants must choose one work in each category (fiction and critical reviews)

Ship for World Youth

Donft Miss the Boat!
The Ship for World Youth (SWY) is a unique international youth exchange programme run and sponsored by the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan.
Young people between the ages of 18-30 are invited to apply for a placement on the Ship for World Youth programme.
The programmefs aim is to broaden the participantsf international perspectives by involving them in various on board activities. These activities include; seminars, sports events and workshops.
Approximately 140 foreign young people from 12 countries and 120 young people from Japan live together on board the ship for 42 days and deepen their friendship, and understanding. This year, two ports of call will be made during the journey in the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand.
This is a great opportunity for young people to meet like-minded individuals from countries such as South America, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and of course Japan.
If you are interested, then the Ship for World Youth programme is currently accepting applications. Application packs can be downloaded from the Ministry of Youth Development website on www.myd.govt.nz. Any enquiries about the programme should be sent to MYDInfo@myd.govt.nz. PMF2008 Audition Information
The nineteenth season of the Pacific Music Festival (PMF) will be presented in Sapporo, Japan from Saturday, July 5 to Thursday, July 31, 2008. Applications are being accepted for the PMF Academy. There is no application fee, however all applicants need to bear traveling expenses to/from the audition site.
For successful applicants, the Festival will cover tuition, international travel expenses between the city you current reside and Sapporo, tranportation within Japan, room accommodations, and meals (or per diem) during each course period

Aiming to promote research of the Manfyo-shu poetry anthology, one of the worldfs great cultural assets that Japanese people take great pride in, Nara Prefecture has established the Nara Manfyo Prize. The prize honours individuals who have made outstanding achievements and contributions in academic and cultural studies of the Manfyo-shu. It is our hope that this will cast a spotlight on unknown aspects of Japanese culture, and contribute to the creation of new culture.

Goi Peace Foundation 2007 International Essay Contest of Young People

The JAPAN PRIZE International Educational Program Contest aims at contributing to the advancement of educational TV programs around the world and the promotion of international understanding and cooperation.
The contest has three divisions: the Program, Web and Proposal Divisions. The Program Division targets programs with educational value, and there are four categories: Early Education, Youth Education, Adult Education, and Issues in Education. The Web Division was established in 2003 and targets educational websites associated with TV programs. The Proposal Division is the newest division established in 2003 with the aim of assisting producers from countries with limited means.
