On 3 of July 2017 the Japan Information and Cultural Centre hosted the year 9 Japanese class from Upper Hutt College.

The students and teacher were treated to a brief presentation from one of our JICC staff about JICC activities and about our staff member's firsthand experience on the JET Programme and living in Hiroshima city.

The presentation was followed by a round of karuta, and then some practice with kendamas and a friendly “kendama speed rally” between two teams.

Some of the children were also very interested in the fake food display and asked some questions about the food.

The visit finished up with a group photo before the students and teachers left the Embassy to go to a Japanese restaurant for lunch.
