2023 Emperor’s Birthday Reception

On March 7th, the Embassy held a reception celebrating the Emperor’s Birthday for the first time in 3 years face to face, having the attendance of roughly 300 guests including New Zealand Parliamentarians, government officials, diplomatic corps, and parties from business and cultural sectors.
Ambassador Ito and Mr Mark Sinclair, New Zealand Government Representative (Senior Official for Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) made remarks. In the venue, in addition to Ikebana and Bonsai exhibitions, designated booths were set up, introducing Japanese culture, tourism, sister city relationship, as well as Japanese companies’ operations in New Zealand, in order to showcase development in people-to-people exchanges and business relations between the two countries.
