The contribution of Mr. Harumasa Murayama, Managing Director of Tokyo Food Co. Ltd in Auckland, to over 30 years of promoting Japanese food in New Zealand and Australia has been recognized this year with the awarding of the 12th Agricultural Minister's Award for Overseas Promotion of Japanese Food from the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on 19th December. He is the first New Zealand based recipient of the Minister’s Award.
The Minister's Award for Overseas Promotion of Japanese Food is awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to the introduction and diffusion of Japanese cuisine, Japanese food and other Japanese agricultural and fishery products overseas. Its purpose is to further expand exports of Japanese agricultural, fishery and food products. Both Japanese and foreign nationals residing overseas are qualified. １２月１９日、本年で第１２回を迎える日本食海外普及功労者表彰において、東京フード社（本社：オークランド）の村山 晴政社長が、３０年に渡るニュージーランド・オーストラリアにおける日本食普及の功績を認められ、農林水産大臣賞を受賞されました。この賞を受賞するのは、ニュージーランドに所在する人では初めてです。 なお、日本食海外普及功労者表彰事業とは、日本産農林水産物・食品の輸出の一層の拡大に向けて、外国人または海外に在住する邦人で日本食、日本食材その他日本産農林水産物の海外での紹介、普及などに多大な貢献してきた者（日本食海外普及功労者）に対し、農林水産大臣賞を授与するものです。
