Ambassador Commendation Ceremony
公館長表彰

On January 23 2018, Ambassador Toshihisa Takata presented Certificates of Commendation to the following people;

Haruko Stuart of University of Otago, Naomi Collins of Massey University, Masayoshi Ogino of University of Canterbury, Sharon Henry of Wellington High School, Jo Hawes of Upper Hutt College, Hidemi Fuke of Queen Margaret College, Linda Tappenden of Cashmere High School, Dean Rabbitt of Hutt International Boys School, Karen Thomson of James Hargest College and Robert Arrell of Napier Boys High School but were unable to be present at the ceremony, also received the award.

The Ambassador’s Commendation is bestowed on individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions towards friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and New Zealand.

The abovementioned people have all contributed to facilitating the study of Japan and Japanese language by New Zealand youth, strengthening understanding of Japan and its culture. Among this group are secondary and tertiary level teachers of the Japanese language, and coordinators for exchange programmes to Japan, which from a wide variety of angles, give young New Zealanders an appreciation for Japan.

The mutual friendship our two countries have benefits greatly from the efforts of those who pass on their own enthusiasm for Japan to the next generation of New Zealanders. We would like to convey our most sincere congratulations to these teachers and coordinators, and are very grateful for the influence they have on Japanese studies in New Zealand.

２０１８年１月２３日，大使公邸において，ニュージーランドで日本語教育に係わる以下7名の方々に、長年に亘る日本語教育への尽力， 日本及びニュージーランドの親善，相互理解促進への貢献が評価され，在外公館長表彰が授与されました。

ステュアート晴子氏（オタゴ大学） , ナオミ・コリンズ氏（マッセー大学） , 荻野雅由氏（カンタベリー大学） , シャロン・ヘンリー氏（ウェリントン高校） , ジョー・ホウズ氏（アッパーハット高校） , 福家秀美氏（クィーンマーガレット高校） , リンダ・タッペンデン氏（カシミア高校）

上記の他，ディーン･ラビット氏（元ハットインターナショナルボーイズ高校， カレン・トムソン氏（ジェームスハーゲスト高校），ロバート・アレル氏（ネイピアボーイズ高校）へも表彰状が贈られました。

受賞者の方々は，ニュージーランドの青少年へ，日本の言語や文化を伝えるのみならず， 日本への研修旅行を実施するなど，様々なかたちで日本の魅力を伝達したことが高く評価されました。日本大使館としましては、受賞者の今後の益々の活躍に期待しています。
