If you're interested in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, or even just want to hear a little more about what it is, come visit us and maybe even walk away with some free stuff

FREE Monthly Film Night: Mameshiba

A film adaptation of the TV series which depicts the journey of a middle-aged man with a two-month old puppy in search of his mother who has run away from home. The film has a rich lineup of established actors from TV dramas, films and stage performances under their belts, including Sato Jiro who stars in this film. One day Jiro (Sato Jiro), a 35-year old unemployed man who has never stepped foot outside of his town, runs into Ichiro, a Mameshiba puppy with a red scarf around its neck. Ichiro turns out to be a puppy Jiro's runaway mother had sent for her family to come looking for her.

Calling All MANGA Artists! The Twelfth Japan International MANGA Award Has Launched!
APPLICATIONS CLOSE NEXT WEEK!!
We are happy to announce that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan have just launched the Twelfth Japan International MANGA Award, and are now accepting entries!
Applications are open from  2nd April to 15th June 2018. The MANGA Awards will be given to the best works, and include a trip to Japan by the Japan Foundation! Let's put New Zealand's incredible artists on the map!

Friendly Game between New Zealand's Football Ferns and Japan's Nadeshiko Japan

WHEN: Sunday 10th June, kick off at 3pm, ends at 4:45
WHERE: Westpac Stadium, Wellington

This will be the first match since 2015 in Japan's Kagawa Prefecture, that the Football Ferns and Nadeshiko Japan play against each other! Come along to watch the friendly match which will be Nadeshiko Japan's first ever game in New Zealand! It's sure to be an exciting and challenging game for the Football Ferns, who lost the last game they played against Japan.

The Football Ferns are currently 20th in the world ranking, while Nadeshiko Japan are 11th.

Kick off will be at 3pm on June the 10th, and the game is to be held in Wellington's Westpac Stadium. This is a game you can't miss!

Kyo Gawara:
Watch how an artisan carefully makes a Kyo Gawara. These beautifully sculpted roof tiles are often found on temples, shrines and tea houses in Kyoto, and have in recent eras, also been used to roof privately owned houses as well.

Roppongi:
When many of us think of Japan, the first thing that comes to our minds is the combination of a futuristic, neon-lit cityscape with traditional Japanese culture and structures. Roppongi, a district within the Tokyo Prefecture has all of this and more! With its famous nightlife scene, Roppongi is popular with tourists and Japanese alike.

Monthly JKaiWa (Japanese Conversation Evening)

Every month, the Embassy of Japan hosts a Japanese conversation evening for those who wish to brush up on their Japanese skills while making new friends. RSVPs are required no later than 5pm on the Wednesday prior to JKaiWa.
